PACK. PACKE. Possibly from the Fr. Paque, Easter, See Times and Seasons. But more likely from an ancient personal name Pack or Peck, from which seem to be derived the local Packington, Peckham, Paston, Packwood, &c. Ferguson concurs in this view, and even goes so far as to derive the personal name from the A- Sax. pesca, a deceiver.
